Competitions

Competitive shooting is probably one of the best ways to improve your shooting skills. It encourages shooters to practice regularly and to focus upon their areas of weakness to develop their techniques and raise their scores.

The clubs runs a varied range of competitions across the shooting season and is keen to encourage members to enter the wide range of competitive events staged each year. We have proven that competitive shooting develops an individual's shooting ability with 'personal best' scores noted to increase year-on-year.

Competition Dates

Saturday 11th September 2010

‘Silver Bullet’ Paper Plate Shoot 10.00pm to 12.30pm

This will be the fifth annual ‘Silver Bullet’ paper plate shoot at the Barnwell Range.

This competition is for Under-lever Carbines and each competitor is required to shoot three details at 20, 35 & 50 yards at plates fixed on the target targets.

Each detail requires 18 rounds of ammunition with 54 rounds required in total.

Starting with just 6 rounds loaded into the rifle shooters have 120 seconds to take 18 shoots (6 shots kneeling, 6 shots weak shoulder and 6 shots strong shoulder) inc. all reloading necessary.

A great fun competition with supplementary event for rimfire rifles & LBRs, subject to demand - make sure you sign up for this one ASAP!

Benchrest Competition 12.30pm to 4.00pm

Bench Rest 'Competition Day' - opportunity for members to try their hand at bench rest shooting in a competitive way i.e. how small will YOUR group be on the day?

This event will be staggered across the day and will be available as a 'drop-in' day for members - just turn-up and shoot your cards.

This is a new competitive area for ORPC and divisions hav yet to be agreed, but it will reflect the rifles members wish to shoot and could be shot at 50m & 100m.

Let us know what you want to shoot - .22LR? Underlevers? Production rifle? Custom Build rifle?
